Steve Kerr is a young and very successful NBA coach. The five-time NBA champion took over the head coaching ranks for the Golden State Warriors in 2015. Amazingly, the Warriors won the championship that year. In 2017, the Warriors won another title, even after Kerr missed most of the postseason with a severe back injury.

As brilliant as Kerr is, he does have a dark side. Kerr regularly gets into heated arguments with referees, which is a common practice among coaches. However, he is known for verbally assaulting coaches, picking up a few technical fouls over the course of his coaching careers. Kerr is usually quick to admit his faults and give his opinion on how players and officials can better get along.

On Monday, Kerr gave a unique standpoint on his perspective on officiating in this era of the league.

This isn't an unusual opinion. Referees are usually subjected to harsh treatment by players, coaches, and the league who are all quick to point out their flaws. It has to be truly frustrating for everyone to tell the referees how to do their jobs on a daily basis, and then expect them to give impartial officiating during games. Therefore, Kerr has a valid point. During the All-Star break, the NBA setup a meeting between the Referee's and Players' Association.

Regardless of if the meeting was productive, there is a long way to go for players and officials to reach perfect harmony in their interactions for the court. That is further evidenced by Kerr outright announcing that a referee job is something he definitely doesn't want.
