Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has a quota of just 35 minutes per game, which is pretty low considering he's the team's franchise player. A few more minutes would've helped the Warriors on Monday against the San Antonio Spurs, but head coach Steve Kerr is sticking to his guns.

After Monday's loss, Kerr shared the reason behind playing Curry just 35 minutes per game. Coupled with the difficulties of navigating through this season, the Warriors coach shared that they want Curry to remain fit and healthy for as long as possible.

“I'm into the long game. We're counting on having Steph here a long time — many, many years ahead … so we're going to stay very disciplined and try to keep him at that 34, 35 minute mark,” Steve Kerr explained, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

Kerr added that Curry is well-aware of what the coaching staff is doing. He knows that the Warriors are doing it for him and the team, especially in the long run.

“Steph's a grown up. He's an incredible teammate. He has full awareness of what we're doing right now and what this season is about…Steph's not frustrated. He doesn't like to lose, he's a big time competitor, but he'll hang in,” the Warriors tactician added, per Nick Friedell of ESPN.

The coaching decision has, of course, garnered mixed reactions from Warriors fans. Some completely understand the logic and principle behind it, with one noting that the entire Dubs squad has to play better and not rely on Steph. Some believe that an extra two minutes won't hurt, especially if it's a close game.

The frustration of Warriors fans are understandable, especially after the team's tough loss to the Spurs. They had a chance to tie the game with less than 10 seconds left. But instead of executing a play to perfection, Draymond Green botched their chance.

Given Kerr's blunt admission, the Warriors faithful should now temper their expectations. Yes, Curry will still be knocking down 3-pointers, but he won't be on the court for too long.
