It hasn't been the season that many expected for the Golden State Warriors. The team was already missing All-Star Klay Thompson, and things got worse after four games when two-time MVP Stephen Curry went down with a hand injury.

With Thompson likely out for the year and Curry to miss the majority of the season, the Warriors have had to lean on Draymond Green and unproven role players. It hasn't gone well.

At 9-24, Golden State possesses the worst record in the Western Conference. Despite the return of star guard D'Angelo Russell and four straight wins, the season seems like a lost cause for most.

With the team unlikely to compete for a playoff spot, they have less of a need for veteran talent. Because of that, the Warriors are reportedly open to trading several veteran players on their roster, including nine-year pro Alec Burks.

Per Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area:

As much as the Warriors like Burks, and they most assuredly do, they are willing, according to league sources, to part with him — and several other veterans — for the right deal. Why consider moving arguably their most proficient offensive player? Because they want to create room to accommodate two-way guards Damion Lee and Ky Bowman.

Burks has previously said that he wants to stay with the Warriors, but is sure seems the Dubs are not ready to reciprocate that. Burks, who signed a one-year deal with Golden State in the offseason, has played for four different teams throughout his career.

The 27-year-old is in the midst of the best season of his career so far. In 30 games and 12 starts, Burks is averaging a career-high 15.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 42.5 percent from the field and 34.9 percent from the 3-point line.

With the success Burks is enjoying, it's likely the Warriors will try to capitalize on his increased value while they can. Once Curry and Thompson return, Burks' role would likely be reduced.
