Golden State Warriors guard D'Angelo Russell is currently in the midst of his first go-round as a member of the heralded Western Conference franchise. While it initially appeared as though Golden State acquired the former Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers guard in order to ultimately use him as trade bait, that may or may not still be the case as the Warriors have continued to struggle mightily this season.
According to a recent report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, it is now unlikely that the Warriors attempt to trade Russell until at least after the conclusion of the 2019-20 campaign.
Woj says he thinks it's more likely Golden State will wait until the summer to look at trading D'Angelo Russell rather than doing so in-season. Says it doesn't make much sense for Golden State to canvas the league in-season.

The Warriors obviously lost superstar forward Kevin Durant to the aforementioned Nets this past offseason, which has not turned out well for the five-time defending Western Conference Champions. However, it is not all on the absence of Durant as the currently injured sharpshooter is just one player that has not suited up very much for Golden State this season. With Russell battling a slew of injury problems of his own, two-time NBA MVP and veteran point guard Stephen Curry, power forward Draymond Green and swingman Klay Thompson have all encountered some injury-related setbacks along the way in 2019-20.
As a result of this season quickly becoming one to forget, the Warriors will more than likely acquire a top NBA Draft pick next summer, putting them in prime position to rebuild back up in a hurry. If Curry and Thompson come back healthy toward the end of this season or at the start of next, Russell could become a third cog in the “Splash Brothers” legacy.
