Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry is expected to play for Team USA in the 2020 Olympics, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

Curry has never played in the Olympics for Team USA. He was part of the 2014 USA squad which won gold at the FIBA World Cup.

Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors told CNBC earlier this week that he intended to make himself available for the 2020 Olympics in Japan. Stephen Curry, Green’s Golden State teammate, is also expected to volunteer his services, since Curry has yet to play in an Olympics.

Team USA is going to need other superstars to play in the 2020 Olympics if they want to win the gold medal. The Americans won gold at the summer Olympics back in 2016 in Brazil. That team had Jimmy Butler, Kevin Durant, DeAndre Jordan, Kyle Lowry, Harrison Barnes, DeMar DeRozan, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, DeMarcus Cousins, Paul George, Draymond Green and Carmelo Anthony on it.

Curry is one of the best basketball players in the world and arguably the most lethal shooter of all-time. The two-time NBA MVP has career averages of 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.6 assists with the Warriors while shooting 47.7 percent from the field, 43.6 percent from beyond the arc and 90.5 percent from the free-throw line.
