The Golden State Warriors have agreed to trade the No. 52 pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft on Thursday to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Lindy Waters III, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Waters, who has spent the last three seasons with the Thunder, has always been viewed as a reliable three-point shooting weapon who has always been regarded for his competitiveness. As a result of landing Waters as a bench talent, the Warriors have now moved their only draft pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Originally going undrafted in 2020, Waters began his NBA career in the G League with the Oklahoma City Blue. From there, he signed a two-way contract with the Thunder ahead of the 2021-22 season and he remained with the team through 2022. As a result of his production and commitment to the team throughout his development, the Thunder awarded Waters with a two-year, $2.96 million contract in February 2023.

In addition to being a really solid shooter from the perimeter, Waters has always been known to be a great locker room presence. While he does own a $2.2 million team option for the 2024-25 season, the Warriors are expected to keep Waters around on their roster, according to The Athletic's Anthony Slater. This means Waters will be a key rotational player on Golden State's bench next season.

While he was with the Thunder, Waters played a total of 38 games this past year, averaging 3.6 points in 7.4 minutes per game. He shot 37-for-85 from three-point range, which is roughly 43.5 percent. The Warriors always tend to do damage with viable three-point shooting options on their bench, which is why they believe Waters could be a steal as a buy-low target this offseason at a very affordable price.

After making this trade with the Warriors, the Thunder now enter the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft with some options. Oklahoma City selected Nikola Topic and Dillon Jones in the first round of the draft on Wednesday night, which is why they could look to move this pick acquired from the Warriors for future draft assets. If the Thunder hang onto the No. 52 overall pick on Thursday, they will likely target a player who will sign a two-way contract for the 2024-25 season.
