On Monday the Washington Football Team announced that starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was being placed on injured reserve with a hip injury. While he may still come back at some point this season, he will miss a large chunk of games.

It appears the Washington Football Team will roll forward with Taylor Heinicke as their starter. However, Robert Griffin III has thrown his hat into the mix.

RGIII took not only to Twitter but also to Instagram to inform the WFT to, “make the call.”

The former quarterback in D.C. recently signed a deal with ESPN to join on as a broadcaster and has already called games for the network. It's unknown how much sarcasm was meant by the posts from RGIII but perhaps he still has the itch to play and would like a reunion with the Washington Football Team.

It's incredibly unlikely that Ron Rivera and Co. would entertain the idea given that RGIII hasn't been a consistent starter in the NFL in years. If they were to think outside the box, a reunion between Cam Newton and Rivera would be far more likely than the WFT signing RGIII.

The Washington Football Team suffered a 20-16 loss in Week 1 to the Los Angeles Chargers and now they'll be without Fitzpatrick for an extended period of time.

For now, it will be Heinicke who's expected to produce and put up some wins for the WFT behind a really good defense and a decent amount of talent on the offensive side of the ball.
