The rest of Chase Young’s return to Ohio will likely be spent on the sidelines. The Washington Football Team’s defensive end will miss the rest of the game against the Cleveland Browns because of a going injury. Washington has ruled our his return for the game, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The 21-year old headed to the locker room after tweaking his groin during a pass rush against the Browns. Young, who was selected by Washington with the second overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft last April, had a strong start to his rookie season, tallying a combined 2.5 sacks, six tackles, and two assists in their first two games of the season, which began with a 27-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1 followed by a 30-15 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2.
With the talented rookie missing the rest of the game, defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio will likely rely on the pass rush group of Montez Sweat, Ryan Kerrigan, and Ryan Anderson to fill the void left by Young and give Washington a second win of the season against Cleveland, which is also looking for its second victory.
This comes as an unfortunate development for the rookie, especially since it was earlier reported that his parents will watch him play in the NFL for the first time tougher with the parents of Washington’s other rookies, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports. Young, who played with the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2017-2019, was also making a return to the state which he called home and made his name in college.
