The Green Bay Packers had a good year. A really good year, as a matter of fact.

They went 13-3, won the NFC North and locked up a first-round bye. They then defeated the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

However, during the Packers' lifeless NFC Championship Game loss to the San Francisco 49ers, it became apparent that Green Bay was not quite there yet in terms of being a legitimate Super Bowl squad.

The problem is, the Packers don't exactly have a lot of time.

Aaron Rodgers is 36 years old and has already been showing signs of a decline, so you have to wonder how much time he has left as an elite quarterback.

Compounding that issue is that Green Bay has a shortage of weapons offensively, which makes Rodgers' job that much more difficult in his old age.

Yes, there is stud wide receiver Davante Adams, but otherwise, the Packers' cupboard is pretty bare, as Geronimo Allison and Jake Kumerow were both disappointing in 2019 and Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Allen Lazard are probably nothing more than No. 3 receivers.

As for tight end Jimmy Graham? It seems pretty clear that he is cooked.

So, yeah; the Packers have some holes to fill, and they don't have all that much cap room to work with at the moment.

Over The Cap states that Green Bay has $23.7 million in cap space entering the offseason, which is not dire, but also not a lot. Of course, the Packers can cut players and rework contracts to free up more room, but no matter what Green Bay does, it isn't going to have a ton of money to spend.

On the bright side, only two of the Packers' own free agents are truly vital to the team's success, and they are offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga and linebacker Blake Martinez.

Green Bay fans are pretty divided on Martinez, who is a tackling machine but doesn't possess the athleticism of many of the other elite linebackers in the NFL, and while Bulaga is good, he is replaceable.

The main thing the Packers need to focus on this offseason is getting Rodgers some more weapons.

There will be plenty of pass-catching options available, ranging from wide receivers such as A.J. Green, Emmanuel Sanders and Robby Anderson to tight ends like Austin Hooper, Hunter Henry and Eric Ebron.

Again, Green Bay is pretty strapped for cash, so it won't be able to splurge on multiple options in free agency (especially if it plans on trying to retain Bulaga and/or Martinez), but all it really needs is one more really good threat to put alongside of Adams.

Don't forget: the Packers also have the NFL Draft to patch some of their holes, so Green Bay's offseason won't start and end with free agency.

The Packers will have to get creative because of their rather tough financial situation, but given that they are coming off of a 13-win campaign, they are clearly not that far off.

One signing could ultimately make Green Bay a heck of a lot more dangerous, especially if that signing comes in the former of a top wideout.

Basically, the priority for the Packers should be to supply Rodgers with more offensive talent. Period.
