Chicago White Sox pitcher Mike Clevinger has responded to the domestic and child abuse allegations levied against him. Through his lawyer, Clevinger denied all allegations.

Clevinger is currently under investigation by the MLB for violating the league's domestic violence policy. He is being accused of physical and emotional abuse towards his three children and their two mothers. Clevinger issued a statement via his lawyer responding to those allegations, via Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

“Mike emphatically denies the accusations made. He has never harmed (the woman) or his daughter. We will not comment on (the woman's) motive for bringing these false allegations,” the statement read. “He baseless threats and accusations over the last have regrettably escalated, culminating most recently in deeply disturbing threats towards Mike and Mike's family. Her threats and pattern of abusive behavior are well documented.”

“The simple truth is that Mike has done nothing wrong. He is a loving and caring father,” the statement continued. “We have advised Mike not to comment on this matter.”

Chicago released their own statement regarding Clevinger, saying the team takes the allegations very seriously and won't comment further until after the MLB's investigation.

The Chicago White Sox signed Mike Clevinger to a one-year, $12 million contract earlier this offseason. He pitched for the San Diego Padres in 2022, compiling a 7-7 record with a 4.33 ERA and a 91/35 K/BB ratio over 23 appearances.

Clevinger was expected to help bolster the White Sox starting rotation. However, as he undergoes MLB investigation, Clevinger's White Sox and MLB career have now been put on hold.
