The Chicago White Sox take on the Seattle Mariners. Our MLB odds series has our White Sox Mariners prediction and pick. Find out how to watch White Sox Mariners.

The Chicago White Sox are living through a nightmare right now. They're almost 35 games under .500 in the second week of June. They're almost certain to lose at least 100 games and are probably going to lose at least 110 unless they can play at least a month of .500 ball to stabilize. The White Sox recently lost 14 games in a row before winning two straight games. They were on the verge of winning a third straight game, but they coughed up a ninth-inning lead and lost to the Boston Red Sox on Sunday afternoon. The White Sox have struggled to hit and they have struggled to protect leads. They have some really good starting pitchers, but they haven't been able to overcome the huge, expansive flaws of this team. Few organizations in Major League Baseball face as difficult a situation as the White Sox do right now, especially since the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers are clearly improved in the American League Central. The White Sox might be looking at a future in which they finish last in the division for three or four consecutive seasons if they can't figure out how to restock their roster with high-end talent.

The Seattle Mariners are leading the American League West, and that's very good news for the only MLB team without a World Series appearance. However, Seattle leads the West more because of the struggles of the other teams in the division than its own excellence. The Mariners are a cut below the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, and Cleveland Guardians in the American League. Building themselves up to a higher standard needs to be a goal for Seattle this season.

Why The White Sox Could Cover The Spread

The White Sox have starting pitcher Erick Fedde on the mound. Fedde was a mediocre pitcher with the Washington Nationals. He is performing noticeably better with the White Sox, whose development of Fedde has been one of their few noticeable success stories in the realm of player improvement. Fedde has become a dependable starter and someone who will regularly keep the White Sox competitive. Chicago can be close enough to cover the spread with Fedde getting the ball here.

Why The Mariners Could Cover The Spread

The Mariners just faced the Kansas City Royals in a high-scoring series over the weekend. That might seem like a reason to pick against Seattle, which lost the series to the Royals. However, after facing the potent, high-octane Kansas City offense, it will be far easier for Seattle pitchers to go up against the White Sox' feeble lineup. Seattle might not score a ton of runs versus Erick Fedde, but it can shut down Chicago's offense and win 4-2 or 3-1, which would cover the spread on the run line.

Final White Sox-Mariners Prediction & Pick

The Mariners are the better team in this matchup, but the White Sox have a strong starter with Fedde on the bump. Pass on this one.

Final White Sox-Mariners Prediction & Pick: White Sox +1.5
