Jim Harbaugh spent many years coaching in the NFL but ultimately decided to take a job at Michigan in 2015. There was some speculation that Harbaugh could return to the league this season after interviewing with the Minnesota Vikings before they hired Kevin O’Connell. But on Tuesday, the veteran HC officially closed the door on coming back to the NFL.

Via AP:

“Ultimately, I decided this is where I wanted to be,” Harbaugh said during a news conference to discuss spring practice. “And really, a lot of gratitude for that.”

Jim Harbaugh wasn’t offered the job by Minnesota anyway, but he’s clearly content in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines restructured his contract in February, keeping him at his Alma Mater through the 2026 season. He’ll be paid more than $7 million per year. the 58-year-old will also be given $1 million per season in his retirement plan and can make millions more with performance bonuses.

Also, the Wolverines are a very good program under Harbaugh. He’s led the team to a 61-24 record since joining over six years ago, including a historic win over Ohio State this past season. Also, those dreams of winning a Super Bowl are in the rearview for Jim Harbaugh. He’s fully focused on capturing a National Championship:

“We could win the national championship, and that’s plenty good,” he said.

Maybe the other Harbaugh brother can win a ring in the NFL, who knows.
