The NBA is experiencing a wave of positivity from its players this summer. Of course, the opening of LeBron James' I Promise School is the biggest example of community involvement. But he isn't the only one taking advantage of his platform and reach.

Derrick Rose announced Wednesday that he is launching a scholarship program called The Rose Scholars program. According to Marc J. Spears of ESPN, Rose is gifting over $400,000 in tuition to students in need.

According to Spears, Rose hopes “to provide students a path to college that was not previously available to them.”

Rose is providing an opportunity for gifted kids that may not have had the chance to attend college otherwise. It's heartwarming to see so many athletes answering the call and giving back to their communities lately.

It's hard to understand fans that don't want athletes to take an active role in social issues that they are passionate about. Of course, not everyone will agree with each other's politics, but certain social issues should not be divisive.

In fact, more athletes should step forward to use their voice, influence, and reach to help out to those in need of it.

By focusing on education, players like Rose and James are sending an overwhelmingly positive message to the kids that idolize them. First, they're sending the message that an education is important. Second, they're letting them know that we can all make a difference.
