When Jordynne Grace passed through the Forbidden Door on NXT to challenge Roxanne Perez for a Women's Championship match at NXT Battleground, it signaled the opening shots of a massive new Forbidden Door partnership between two of America's biggest wrestling promotions.

Could fans see a reunion of The Rascalz? AJ Styles back in the Impact Zone for one final title run at the end of his career? Or maybe the “BOAT,” Natalya, becoming Knockouts Champion, taking part in a long-time dream match of the current title holder, Grace?

Discussing the prospects of NXT expanding outside of the usual WWE talent pool to give fans exciting shows moving forward in an appearance on KTNV Channel 13 Las Vegas, Shawn Michaels hinted at even more surprises at NXT Battleground next month, low-key telling fans to tune in a few weeks time.

“Well, look, obviously, a lot of those decisions get made by people above me. But look, I have no doubt that there's gonna be some very exciting announcements coming down the pipe, let's put it that way. I will say this again, it comes back to wanting to entertain the people that do this, and you just said it; for fans, we have wanted A, B, and C for so long,” Shawn Michaels told KTNV Channel 13 Las Vegas via Fightful. “I don't know. I guess with those of us that get to do this behind the scenes, those are things that we've wanted to see, why not see if we can bring you guys one of these things you've been looking for. Obviously a very exciting time to be a wrestling fan and we'll see how much of it culminates Battleground on June 9, I'm sure a lot of things are going to be going on that night, so I wouldn't miss it.”

Oh snap, what does HBK and company have planned? I guess fans will have to tune in on June 9th to find out, as at this point, no option can be completely taken off the table.

Booker T is excited to see Shawn Michaels book an NXT-TNA crossover.

If anyone knows a thing or two about working in the WWE and TNA landscapes, it's Booker T, the current NXT color commentator who was a champion in both promotions at one point or another.

Discussing the potential partnership on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T celebrated the prospects, noting that the pairing has the potential to be incredibly beneficial to TNA as they look to recapture some excitement in the brand moving forward.

“It's not 2008. TNA, I think it was 2008 it would be a totally different ballgame. But now I think, no matter how you look at it, I think WWE can help TNA so much more than they can hurt it right now, as far as — you know, it could be looked at as really, your big league farm system. As far as, you know, emerging talent to actually be able to come over and finally work that big show. Maybe they may just show up for WrestleMania, it might just be a one-off. You never know. But I just think it's so many ways you can work with TNA,”

“I think it's so much more of an upside for TNA to want to work with WWE as well, as well as those guys. No matter what they talk about on the internet, I'm sure Jordynne Grace had the moment of a lifetime, but she did the Rumble. Opposed to everything that she's done at TNA. Not knocking anything that she's done in TNA, but that right there is like playing college football and then playing in the Super Bowl. Get a spot in the Super Bowl, you get a chance to throw one pass in the Super Bowl, you feel what I'm saying? Yeah, so I think all of those young guys would definitely benefit from having that experience. No matter what people say on the internet, as far as, ‘Man, I don't ever want to go to WWE, man. I don't care about WrestleMania.' You don't care about it until you get to. It's almost like when I was a kid, and I grew up to be a grown man. And I and I used to tell people, ‘You really never missed what you'd never had.' But that's not true.”

All of the Super Bowl metaphors aside, the pairing really does have the potential to help TNA out a ton, as they hit some of their biggest numbers in years when Kenny Omega was doing his Belt Collector storyline a few years back. If Perez, Styles, Natalya, and/or any other performers start appearing in the Impact Zone moving forward, it can only mean good things for the future.
