The speculations over the future of Aaron Boone in Gotham are now over. According to Jack Curry, Boone and the New York Yankees have agreed on a deal that would see the former Bronx Bomber hitter manage the team for three more years.

Boone will be signing a 3-year contract with an option year to return as manager of the Yankees, according to a person who has been briefed on the matter.'

Ideally for the Yankees, they would not be immersed in such talks at this point of the year, as they'd rather still be in contention for the World Series. But the Yankees lost to the Boston Red Sox in the Wild-Card game in the Americal League, 6-2.

Following that loss to their bitter rivals, the Yankees made some moves behind the scenes by splitting with hitting coach Marcus Thames and third base coach Phil Nevin among others. Those were taken by some as signs that a bigger development could be in the works, like the Yankees parting ways with Boone. Instead, Boone will be wearing New York pinstripes as manager for at least the foreseeable future.

Boone succeeded Joe Girardi, the last manager to lead the Yankees to a World Series title, and began calling the shots for New York in the 2018 season. Since then, the Yankees have finished No. 1 in the Americal League East division just once but made the playoffs in each year of his tenure as New York;s dugout boss.
