The New York Yankees are playing great baseball all of the sudden. It wasn't all that long ago that Yankees fans were calling the 2022 squad a bust and the media was posing all of the difficult questions after New York's underwhelming beginning to the season. But the Yankees have proven that the game of baseball truly is one of patience. The Yankees have now won 7 games in a row following their 12-2 victory on Friday over the Royals in Kansas City. Aaron Judge and Anthony Rizzo both homered in the game and discussed the keys to success for New York during their winning streak.
Rizzo has been one of the best power hitters in the MLB as evidenced by his league leading home run mark of 9. He shared his thoughts on why the team is playing so well after the game.
“just the work, the focus and the preparation’’ that has finally paid off. “(We’re) just getting into the ebb and flow of the season, and I think everyone’s settling in nicely.’’
He also recently explained how the Yankees' ability to take advantage of other team's mistakes has been vital to their success.
Judge has yet to fully find his stride. Nonetheless, he is still hitting the ball hard and blasted a homer in the Yankees victory. He discussed his current approach to hitting near the top the Yankees' loaded lineup.
“I’m really focused on trying to get on base for the guys behind me. Trying to touch first base and let the guys do their thing.’’
And that is just good leadership. Aaron Judge understands that guys like Anthony Rizzo are swinging the bat well right now. He is doing whatever it takes to win. But he also has the ability to get the job done himself.
The Yankees will look to keep their winning streak alive on Saturday in Kansas City.
