Anthony Rizzo has been on an absolute tear since being traded from the Chicago Cubs to the New York Yankees at the MLB Trade Deadline. The lineup for the Yankees had grown stale and the additions of Rizzo and Joey Gallo have helped in a major way.

They'll now have to do it without Rizzo for awhile as Yankees manager Aaron Boone announce on Sunday that the first baseman has tested positive for Covid-19.

First and foremost, the concern is with Rizzo and his health. Many players end up on the Covid-19 list across sports for close contact with someone who has tested positive. For Rizzo, Boone said directly the Yankees slugger tested positive.

Rizzo will miss the super anticipated Field of Dreams game in Dyersville, Iowa on August 12 between the Yankees and the White Sox and will miss other games before and after it.

The additions of Rizzo and Gallo to the Bronx Bombers lineup has rejuvenated the bunch and gotten them to within 5.5 games of the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East. The division and wild card race are both set to be crazy down the stretch run and they will involve four teams alone in the AL East. Tampa Bay leads the charge in the division with the Boston Red Sox sitting 3 games back. The Yankees check in at 5.5 back while the Toronto Blue Jays are 7 games off the pace.

Thoughts up to Anthony Rizzo for a swift and safe recovery to the field for the Yankees.
