Aroldis Chapman spent the first six years of his career in Cincinnati with the Reds before ending up with the New York Yankees in 2016. Midway through the season, the Yankees were laboring and traded him to the Chicago Cubs. Despite surrendering a game tying home run to Rajai Davis of the Cleveland Guardians in Game 7 of the World Series, the Cubs were able to prevail and win the Fall Classic.

Chapman entered free agency that offseason and ultimately re-signed with the Yankees. However, he had one thing on his mind: winning a World Series.

Aroldis Chapman has now spent five years with the team and New York has failed to reach the Fall Classic. The flame throwing closer recently expressed his honest thoughts about the Yankees failure to win a World Series.

“I thought winning a World Series would be easier with the Yankees.”

Yankees fans will be quick to point one one pivotal moment that Chapman was involved in. In 2019, Chapman surrendered a game winning home run to Jose Altuve which sent the Astros to the World Series. That was the closest New York has been to reaching the Fall Classic since Chapman joined the team.

Last year, he finished with a 3.36 ERA and 30 saves. But there have been discussions about having him pitch more frequently in 7th or 8th inning roles in 2022. Aroldis Chapman has stated he is willing to do whatever is necessary for the team to win games.

He is obviously ready to help the New York Yankees bring home a World Series championship as soon as possible.
