The New York Yankees have yet another injury, as infielder D.J. LeMahieu will miss Tuesday's game due to left wrist discomfort.

The injury news comes right after Aroldis Chapman was placed on the Injured List with an Achilles injury. With a 29-13 start to the season, the Yankees possess the best record in baseball. Now, manager Aaron Boone is tasked with his first major road bump on the season. In addition to Chapman's injury, Covid-19 has made its run through the team, as Joey Gallo, Kyle Higashioka, and Josh Donaldson have all missed time. Chad Green was recently placed on the IL as well.

After a huge drop-off in production in 2021, LeMahieu has continued some of those struggles this season. While he hasn't led off consistently like the 2020 season, the former Colorado Rockies star has still been integral in the Yankees' hot start, particularly defensively.

LeMahieu's versatility has allowed the Yankees to configure several different infields and starting lineups. He's played the most games at third base (20), while also starting at second base (14) and first base (6) a decent amount. LeMahieu's even filled in at the DH spot three times in 2022.

In those 39 total games, he's slashed 250/.329/.375 with three homers and 17 RBIs. Despite the pedestrian offensive numbers, he has a 1.2 WAR via Baseball Reference. While LeMahieu hasn't been placed on the IL yet, wrist injuries always cause some concern. It's typically an injury that is difficult to play through. Losing a guy like him would be a devastating loss for the Yankees if it ends up being a long-term injury.
