The New York Yankees paid a whole lot of money to bring over Gerrit Cole from the Houston Astros. So far, they are not regretting that in any way, shape, or form. Cole has been off to a blazing hot start and is running away with the Cy Young Award and it's only been six weeks. This latest record by Cole is hard to believe.

Somehow, someway, Cole keeps dominating basically every time he steps on the mound. Cole tossed eight innings of shutout baseball against the Tampa Bay Rays and gave up just four hits with no runs and no walks while punching out 12.

His ERA is down to 1.37 on the year and his shortest start was Opening Day when he tossed 5.1 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees have enjoyed a hot start to the year and are right behind the Boston Red Sox for first place in the American League East.

Of course, Cole signed a nine-year contract worth $324 million to earn him an average of $36 million per season. If Cole can pitch like this every week for the Yankees, they will be more than happy they shelled out that insane amount of cash for him.

Besides Jacob deGrom, another New York pitcher who has been dominant for the Mets, Cole is the best in the game and should be one of two picks for the Cy Young if he continues to throw like this.
