Manny Machado has been one of the most talked about names on the MLB free agency market this offseason and there are quite a few teams interested in signing him. Among those teams are the New York Yankees, who have been wanting to make a splash at the right price.

According to a new report from Jon Heyman of FanCred, the Yankees are very much in play for Machado. Heyman also listed the Chicago White Sox and Philadelphia Phillies as the top landing spots for Machado.

New York may be willing to spend big for the second straight offseason. Last year, the Yankees went out and signed superstar outfielder Giancarlo Stanton to a massive contract. That deal did not pan out quite like they were hoping in 2018, although there is still plenty of time for him to turn things around.

Last season split between the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers, Machado ended up compiling a .297 batting average to go along with 37 home runs and 107 RBI's.

At 26 years old, Machado is without question a franchise changing free agent. If the Yankees do get him, they are going to be even more dangerous in the American League. They are already close to competing with the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros, but signing another superstar would make them even better.

The Yankees will have to do more work on their starting rotation, but Machado is worth spending big.

Expect to hear more news about Machado in the coming days. He isn't going to rush to make a decision, but he certainly does seem to have a good idea of what teams are offering and the teams he'd prefer to play for.
