Why The Yankees Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Yankees are the best team in the American League. Significantly, they have dominated basically every statistical category on offense and defense. The Yanks are actually living up to their name, “The Bronx Bombers,” and are slugging baseballs out of the yard at an alarming rate. Then, their pitching staff is shutting teams down.

The Yankees started this series with a competitive 4-2 win. Then, they rolled over the Royals 10-1 on Tuesday. Despite the fact that the Royals have been very good this season, they have been no match for the Yankees so far in this series. The Yankees are fourth in batting average, second in on-base percentage, runs, and home runs while being third in slugging percentage. Substantially, their lineup is intimidating and scary.

Anthony Volpe has been an excellent leadoff hitter. So far, he is batting .274 with six home runs, 25 RBIs, and 48 runs. Juan Soto has been an amazing addition to this team. Amazingly, he is hitting .316 with 17 home runs, 53 RBIs, and 52 runs. You also cannot forget about Aaron Judge. Ultimately, he is batting .309 with 25 home runs, 62 RBIs, and 52 runs and may very well clobber 50 this season. Giancarlo Stanton also has continued to slug the baseball. Furthermore, he is hitting .229 with 16 home runs, 38 RBIs, and 29 runs.

The pitching staff also continues to dominate. Amazingly, their rotation is the best in the majors. Their bullpen also is challenging to face. If the Yankees can get a lead, they will not blow it.

The Yankees will cover the spread if the bats can hammer home some runs. Then, Cortes must pitch better on the road this time around.

Why The Royals Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Royals have improved by miles this season. However, they have fallen flat against their first real competition of the season. Kansas City simply has not been able to keep up with New York. Therefore, it has been a major reason why they have struggled over the first two games.

The Royals are seventh in batting average, ninth in on-base percentage, sixth in slugging percentage, and fifth in runs. Yet they are also only 14th in home runs. Their power has not been consistent. Therefore, they need to compensate for their lack of power.

Bobby Witt Jr. is elite. Moreover, he is a joy to watch and someone who can carry this team on his back. Witt is batting .321 with 11 home runs, 48 RBIs, and 56 runs. Thus, he is always a threat to get on base and produce some results. Salvador Perez has had a nice bounce-back season. So far, he is hitting .296 with 10 home runs, 42 RBIs, and 26 runs.

The Royals are 10th in team ERA. Overall, they have a solid pitching staff and were able to contain the Yanks in the first game. But things fell apart on Tuesday.

The Royals will cover the spread if their pitching can avoid making mistakes. Then, they need Witt and Perez to find ways to get to Cortes.

Final Yankees-Royals Prediction & Pick

The Yankees are 42-27 against the spread with their run-line record. Likewise, they are 24-13 against the run line on the road. The Royals have a 48-2o run-line record. Moreover, they are 21-16 against the spread at home. But the Yanks covered the spread over the first two games of the series, showcasing their power. However, Cortes is very erratic on the road. That may prove to be the difference in this one. The Royals cover the spread at home and avoid a sweep at the hands of the Yankees.
