With the NBA championship up for grabs, there's no doubt that all eyes of basketball fans are on the NBA Finals. With two teams remaining competing for the coveted title, there's no question that both squads are bringing out their A-games.

But while having a great start is always ideal, collapses also happen once in a while. Given the competitive nature in the NBA, no lead is safe. Let's rank the 10 biggest NBA Finals collapses.

10. 1976-77 Philadelphia 76ers

In the 1977 NBA Finals, the Dr. J-led Sixers were dominant at first. With a string of highlight reels and dunks, it looked like the Sixers were on their way to an NBA championship with a 2-0 series lead.

However, in unexpected fashion, Bill Walton and the Portland Trail Blazers had other plans. The Sixers were forced to surrender the next four games. Walton posted 18.5 points, 19.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game in the Finals.

9. 1993-94 New York Knicks

With Michael Jordan retiring from the NBA, the championship window opened for a handful of contenders, including Eastern Conference rivals, the New York Knicks. Led by Patrick Ewing, it looked like they finally had a legitimate shot.

After taking a 3-2 series lead, the Knicks were just one win away to end their championship drought. Unfortunately, a game-saving block in Game 6 by Hakeem Olajuwon propelled a Houston Rockets victory. In Game 7, John Starks ultimately went cold to surrender the championship.

8. 2007-08 Los Angeles Lakers (Game 4)

Kobe Bryant and the Lakers were close to winning their first championship since Shaquille O'Neal's departure. However, they did face against a star-studded Celtics squad. With a chance to tie the series, the Lakers raced to a 24-point halftime lead. However, the Celtics came alive in order to escape with a 97-91 victory. After that, the Celtics won the series in six games.

7. 2017-18 Cleveland Cavaliers (Game 1)

Against a star-studded Golden State Warriors team featuring Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, the Cavaliers had all the odds against them. However, LeBron James played his heart out by scoring 51 points, 49 of which came in regulation.

However, it was George Hill's missed free throws before J.R. Smith's iconic blunder that led to overtime. The Cavaliers failed to recover from the incident, as they were swept by the Warriors.

6. 1994-95 Orlando Magic (Game 1)

The Orlando Magic had their opportunities to steal Game 1 of the 1995 NBA Finals. Nick Anderson had a solid game with 22 points and 11 rebounds. However, Anderson choked at a time when the Magic needed him the most.

With a chance to steal the game, Anderson missed two free throws before grabbing the offensive board to miss another two. This paved the way for overtime before the Rockets successfully swept the series.

5. 2009-10 Boston Celtics (Game 7)

While the Celtics dealt with injuries to their key players, they had their chances to become 2010 NBA champions. At one point in Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals, the Celtics led by as much as 13 points in the second half.

Furthermore, Kobe Bryant was having a nightmare game, making only six of his 24 attempts from the field overall. However, the Celtics failed to capitalize as the Purple and Gold would prevail, 83-79, to capture back-to-back titles.

4. 2012-13 San Antonio Spurs (Game 6)

There's no doubt that the San Antonio Spurs would've had another championship to their already decorated franchise if it weren't for the Miami Heat's Ray Allen. With a minute remaining to go, the Spurs looked like they clinched the champion, especially when Kawhi Leonard overcame the pressure on his young shoulders at the charity stripe.

However, it was a timely offensive rebound by Chris Bosh that led to a last-second Ray Allen 3-pointer that sent the game to overtime and a deciding Game 7. From there, the Spurs saw their championship hopes blown away.

3. 2005-06 Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks were on their way to secure a 3-0 Finals series lead when they had a 13-point lead in Game 3. However, the same inexperienced Heat benefitted from Dwyane Wade's 42-point explosion. The Heat captured Game 3 and never looked back to win the franchise's first NBA championship.

2. 2010-11 Miami Heat

The Mavericks exacted revenge against the Heat five years later. Despite parading a Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, the Mavericks found a way to shut down the trio.

While they dropped Game 1, it was a momentum-shifting Game 2 that tilted the favor to Dallas. LeBron James struggled against the Mavericks' zone defense, while Dirk Nowitzki shot the lights out. The Mavericks revenge tour ultimately delayed the Heat's title hopes.

1. 2015-16 Golden State Warriors

But among the events in NBA history, it has to be the 2016 Golden State Warriors who suffered the biggest collapse in NBA Finals history. After racing to a 3-1 Finals series lead, most basketball fans assumed that the Warriors were going to be back-to-back champions.

However, Draymond Green's suspension altered the tide. Since then, LeBron James and Kyrie Irving spearheaded the historic comeback to become the first team to climb out of a 3-1 series hole in the NBA Finals.
