The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially selected former USC Trojans center Evan Mobley with the No. 3 overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft. With Jalen green coming off the board at No. 2 overall just ahead of the former USC big man, Mobley has quickly become the first center off the board in the opening round of this year's installment of the annual event.

The 20-year-old Mobley, who stands at an even seven feet tall while weighing 210 pounds, spent just one season at the collegiate level as a member of the Trojans. Appearing in 33 games as a freshman this past season, Mobley averaged 16.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists over the course of 33.9 minutes per outing. The up-and-coming big man also averaged 2.9 blocks, 0.8 steals and 2.2 turnovers per game in 2020-21 in addition to shooting nearly 58 percent from the field.

A native of Murrieta, CA, Mobley will now head to the Cavs as a potential difference-maker even as a rookie after just one season at the collegiate threshold.

Thanks to his ability to score in the paint, rebound the basketball and play more than effective defense, the athletic seven-footer will be able to make an impact on both ends of the floor in 2021-22. Even in a world where centers are becoming more and more obsolete atop the highest level, Mobley will surely have a place in the NBA for years to come.

Mobley was considered to be one of the best all-around players in the country throughout the 2020-21 campaign while his early selection on Thursday evening comes as absolutely no surprise.
