One of the most unfortunate things to happen in the 2021 PGA TOUR was the forced withdrawal of Jon Rahm from the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday in early June. Rahm tested positive for COVID-19 after three rounds of action at Muirfield Village Golf Club, and as if that wasn't bad enough, he had to pull out while having a six-stroke lead, thus missing the chance to win the top prize worth $1,674,000. In an attempt to promote their product while at the same time make Rahm feel better, PGA Tour 2K21 announced that they are giving the golfer over $1.7 million — in virtual money.

Because of his positive COVID-19 test, Rahm also had to miss the 2021 Palmetto Championship at Congaree in South Carolina, which would have been a nice warm-up for him a week before the 2021 US Open.

But that's all in the past now for Rahm, who was cool all along. It speaks a lot about how classy he is not only as a player but as a person as well.

If anything, at least he tested positive early enough for him to recover just in time for a major tournament in the form of the US Open, which starts Thursday.

Rahm, currently ranked third overall in the world, will tee off at Torrey Pines still searching for his first win of the season, though he has 10 top 10s in 17 starts. His best finish to date was a T2 at the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP @ SHERWOOD.
