Jayson Tatum has a lot of weight on his shoulders for this series. The kid from St. Louis was born for this moment. Tatum is only 24-years old, (no, he’s no longer 19) and if he leads the Celtics to a championship in just a few seasons it would be remarkable. Tatum has already put himself in conversations with some of the greatest Celtics players of all time, but winning this ring this season would already solidify himself as one of the greatest Celtics ever.

With that said, let’s discuss why bettors should consider betting on Jayson Tatum’s series point average.

During the regular season, it became quite clear that Jayson Tatum took that next step in becoming among the league’s elite from a scoring aspect. The former 2017 first-round pick out of Duke saw himself average a career-best in points per game in his fifth season, as Big Deuce compiled 26.9 PPG on 45% shooting including firing 35% from deep and 85% from the charity stripe.

Tatum’s current points average in this series is set at 28.5 points, which is slightly above his regular-season average.

With a career average of 23.0 throughout 68 games in his short but already illustrious NBA career, Tatum has compiled his two best postseasons statistically in the last couple of seasons, as he averaged a whopping 30.6 PPG in five games in 2020-2021 and has now compiled a 27.0 average in 18 games during 2021-2022.

With the stakes at an all-time high in this NBA Finals appearance, it is always smart to give some room for players to go absolutely berserk points-wise. Tatum is no doubt Boston’s best scorer, as he will surely take the most shot attempts as the offense should run through him each time down the floor on almost every offensive possession. Additionally, Tatum’s defensive ability gives him the chance to get steals going the other way which could result in some baskets in transition. With this series expected to be as high-scoring as it is, someone on Boston’s roster will need to put up some points in a hurry against a high-octane Warriors attack, which will most likely come from Tatum.

If this series induces some close games down the stretch, Tatum will no doubt be tasked with the ball on offense late in each contest, which should only boost his chances to reach the over in points. Plus, who could forget that the Warriors have had one of the worst defensive rating rankings throughout the majority season, as they have also showcased a middle-of-the-pack approach during the postseason as well.

This could very well be a career-defining series for Big Deuce in his young career and he should come out lighting up the scoreboard knowing that his team will need to put up the points against an explosive Warriors squad.

2022 NBA Finals Jayson Tatum Points Average Prediction: Over 28.5 (+102)
