The Las Vegas Raiders are on the brink of a crucial 2022 NFL free agency period. They managed to scrape their way into the postseason last year, but the AFC West has turned into one of the best divisions in football over the offseason.

If Las Vegas wants to contend with all of their divisional rivals, they'll have to make some significant roster improvements in the coming weeks. New general manager Dave Zeigler has the seventh-most cap space in the NFL at his disposal, so the Raiders shouldn't be shy in spending on big upgrades.

With that said, we take a look at three players they can target in the 2022 NFL free agency.

Las Vegas Raiders 2022 NFL Free Agency Targets

3. Allen Robinson

This target is a bit of a no-brainer. The Raiders are in desperate need of upgrades at wide receiver, and Allen Robinson is the best player available at the position. He's coming off a down year, but that's mainly because he played in an abysmal Chicago Bears passing offense.

If Robinson is paired with a capable quarterback like Derek Carr, he has the potential to be a Top 15 wide receiver in the NFL. The Penn State product would combine with Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller to give Vegas a legitimately scary passing offense.

Signing Robinson would help the Raiders keep pace with their AFC West rivals while giving Carr a legitimate number one receiver. There's a very little downside here.

2. Eddie Goldman

The Raiders have been in need of defensive upgrades for years now. Defensive tackle is a particularly large area of need. Last season, Las Vegas relied on a combination of Johnathan Hankins, Quinton Jefferson, and Soloman Thomas at the position. None of those guys are quality starters, and it showed in their run defense. Signing Eddie Goldman would give Las Vegas a legitimate starter on the interior, which should translate to an improvement against the run.

What makes Goldman even more appealing is his age. The former Bear is only 28, so Las Vegas could consider a long-term contract here. The Raiders aren't exactly close to contention, so getting young players to build up a strong base makes a ton of sense. The fact that Hankins, Jefferson, and Thomas are all set to hit free agency makes this signing even more logical. The Raiders desperately need a defensive tackle, and a young player of Goldman's caliber would be the perfect fit.

1. Terrell Edmunds

Terrell Edmunds is another decent youngster who could make an impact in Vegas. The former first-round pick played solid football throughout his four years with the Pittsburgh Steelers, starting in double-digit games every season. Now he's a free agent at only 25 years old. To put things in perspective, Jaquan Brisker, one of the best safeties in the 2022 NFL Draft, is 22 years old.

Edmunds is only three years older than that with four years of NFL experience under his belt. The Raiders should jump at the opportunity to sign a starting-caliber safety who has a ton of upside.

The Raiders are desperately in need of safety depth as they head into free agency. Jonathan Abram has consistently been injured, which means that Dallin Leavitt is forced into a large role. If Leavitt is starting at safety, something is wrong. The only other option besides Leavitt is former fourth-round pick Tyree Gillespie. Adding a good veteran to this room makes a ton of sense.
