Coming off another early playoff exit, the Tennessee Titans will definitely be looking to changes things up this offseason. After Ryan Tannehill failed to deliver for the Titans once again, it’s safe to say that Tennessee will be in the market for a new quarterback this summer in the hopes of achieving more.
As they continue to build a contending team in Nashville, it goes without saying that their biggest area of need is a consistent and productive presence in the pocket. With so much in the fold already for the Titans, let’s now discuss the three best replacements for Tannehill that they should target during the 2022 NFL offseason.
Titans Quarterback Replacements For Ryan Tannehill
Russell Wilson
After publicly voicing his displeasure with Seattle’s inability to build a quality offensive line over the past few seasons, Russell Wilson’s time with the Seahawks could be coming to a close this summer. Plus with Wilson having been sacked more than any other quarterback over the past decade it goes without saying that he’s become fed up with the organization. In Tennessee he’d be getting a fresh start with a ready-made title contender.
Just the very idea of him delivering passes to Julio Jones, AJ Brown, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and Anthony Firkser while forming a lethal rushing attack with All-Pro running back Derrick Henry is a fun vision by itself and it’s hard to imagine there’d be a team out there that could slow down the explosion and dominance that offense would bring. If the Titans are serious about competing for a Super Bowl and reaching the promised land in 2023 then this could be the move that gets them over the hump.
Aaron Rodgers
Fresh off another dissatisfactory playoff outing, it feels like Aaron Rodgers tenure in Green Bay could soon be over – especially after all the drama and controversy he created this year. Rodgers is undoubtedly one of the greatest players in NFL history, but with just one Super Bowl and several appearances in the NFC championship round during his time there, it doesn’t seem like he’ll be able to change the narrative for the Packers anytime soon.
On the Titans, Rodgers would be able to rewrite his historic career and work with a deep and dynamic offensive unit that fits his style of play perfectly. His seamless ability to move the ball around and pick apart opposing defenses regularly is what’s made him so lethal throughout the entirety of his career. If Rodgers were to join the Titans next season, then he’d have the opportunity to lead them to their first Super Bowl title in franchise history and join elite company while reaching a major milestone.
Jameis Winston
Widely considered the best free agent quarterback available during the 2022 NFL offseason, Jameis Winston is coming off an injury-shortened season where he showed a ton of improvement and promise during a brief stint as the Saints starting QB. Still just 28 years old, the Titans would be wise to take a chance on Winston.
His in-game awareness and high-IQ playmaking would electrify Tennessee’s ultra-talented offense and take them to the next level. With their sights set on championship gold, bringing on Winston as their man under center definitely would pay off in the long run and get them out of the playoff funk they’ve been in over the past couple of seasons.
