The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are finishing up yet another fantastic offseason. There were plenty of questions that general manager Jason Licht had to answer. He managed to coax quarterback Tom Brady out of retirement and keep much of the roster together. Free agency was largely successful, and the draft was too. The Buccaneers managed to trade down and acquire top-tier talent and extra draft picks in the process. However, even with that good of an offseason, there are still concerns that Tampa Bay needs to address, particularly on defense. Linebacker, cornerback, and defensive tackle all need to be addressed before the season begins.

Buccaneers Trade Targets To Complete 2022 Roster

3. Chazz Surratt

Linebacker may be the position that needs the most additional depth on the Buccaneers' roster. The starters, Devin White and Lavonte David, are both elite, reliable players. However, no other linebacker on the roster could be described that way. Grant Stuard and KJ Britt are the next two guys up. Both guys were selected after the fourth round in their respective drafts. Neither has done anything to warrant any sort of confidence in them if they play. The Buccaneers can't go into the season and just hope that White and David stay injury-free. They need a backup plan as soon as possible.

That's where Chazz Surratt comes in. The former UNC Tar Heel was selected in the third round by the Minnesota Vikings, but he hasn't been able to find his way on to the field yet. That's largely because of how stacked the Vikings are at linebacker. Minnesota has Eric Kendricks, Jordan Hicks, and several promising youngsters at the position. That should make trading for Surratt relatively easy. It's hard to see him getting meaningful snaps with the Vikings. He's an extremely athletic player who would benefit from sitting behind two of the best players at his position, and he should be available for a late-round pick.

2. Al Woods

This trade won't make any headlines, but it would make a ton of sense for both the Bucs and the Seattle Seahawks. Tampa Bay desperately needs help at defensive tackle, even after the signing of Akiem Hicks. Starting nose tackle Vita Vea is one of the best in the NFL, but he's also a complete injury magnet. He's a good bet to miss some time during the year, and Hicks hasn't exactly been the most healthy player throughout the last couple of seasons either. More depth at the position would be ideal.

Al Woods is the perfect candidate to provide that depth. He isn't a big name, but he's a decent rotational lineman. He's at his best against the run, which is a perfect fit for what the Bucs would ask of him. Woods also wouldn't take a lot to acquire. The Seahawks have a ton of defensive line talent, and Woods just isn't a fit there anymore. Seattle is in the beginning stages of a full rebuild, and Woods is a 35-year-old backup defensive tackle. It's better for both parties for Woods to find a new home.

1. Justin Layne

Justin Layne would be a similar trade target to Surratt. Both players are young with plenty of potential, but neither has looked at home on the teams that drafted them. Layne hasn't really been able to find the field with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former Michigan State Spartan has a ton of potential. He's already good enough to be the best backup on the Bucs at cornerback.

The Buccaneers can't enter the regular season without upgrading at corner. Injuries to the position cost Tampa Bay games last season, as star corner Carlton Davis and starting slot corner Sean Murphy-Bunting both missed time. Ross Cockrell was forced into a big role, and it significantly impacted Tampa's ability to cover. The Bucs need to upgrade, and Layne is a clear candidate to help them out.
