In order to build upon their 11-6 finish from last season, the Arizona Cardinals must continue to improve their roster. While the trade market is not heavily used in the NFL for big-name options, the Cardinals would be smart to find a few targets for them to go after this offseason.

With Kyler Murray rumored to be searching for a new deal and DeAndre Hopkins missing time due to his performance-enhancers suspension, the Cardinals have an uphill battle to try and produce an above-average offensive output. Combined with their defense having to go up against the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers a total of four times this season, and you have the makings of a team that needs as much talent as it can find.

Cardinals Trade Targets to Complete 2022 Roster

Roquan Smith – LB (25)
Chicago Bears

If the Cardinals are going to scour the trade market for some options, going after players that only have one year remaining on their current deal makes a ton of sense, especially for a player that is the caliber that Roquan Smith is.

With the Chicago Bears not looking like serious contenders this year and Smith heading into a contract season, they would be smart to try and cut bait with him and acquire some much-needed draft capital to build around Justin Fields.

For the Cardinals, they would likely need to shell out some considerable draft picks to make this deal work, all the while working with Smith and his agent to lock up the 25-year-old coming off of his best career season.

George Fant – OT (29)
New York Jets

Just like Smith, George Fant is on the final year of his deal, and with the New York Jets not having opened their competitive window quite yet, he would add some much-needed offensive tackle depth for a team devoid of it.

Having a considerably-lower price tag than that of Smith, Fant could become the swing tackle for this team or even supplant Kelvin Beachum at right tackle, a place where he has plenty of experience playing. Fant’s 3.0% pressure rate at LT was the third-best rate in the entire league last season, so he is more than capable of holding down either tackle spot and likely would only go for a mid-round selection.

Deion Jones – LB (27)
Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons are going to be dead in the water this upcoming season and with Deion Jones missing all of the offseason workouts due to surgery on a lingering shoulder injury, the writing looks to be on the wall for their priciest player.

Granted, Jones is only 27 and does not have his contract run out until after the 2023 season, but the Falcons would be smart to try and move on from his deal now to jumpstart their move into a full-on rebuild. For the Cardinals, making Jones one of their trade targets this offseason would be a welcomed addition to their 2022 roster, as their LB depth could use an infusion of talent.

With Jones having a regression this offseason for his injury recovery, that certainly can limit the type of return that the Falcons would be looking for, but Arizona should look into Jones regardless, seeing as how he would be a strong addition that is more than just a one-year rental.
