The Miami Dolphins faced an intense amount of scrutiny after firing former head coach Brian Flores. After all, the team won eight of their final nine games. Despite how shocking and seemingly undeserved the firing was, the organization must move on. Reportedly, general manager Chris Grier has appeared to have narrowed down the head coaching search to three names.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins plan to have second interviews with Kellen Moore, Mike McDaniel and Brian Daboll.

All three coaches are the offensive coordinators for their respective teams. Moore has led the Dallas Cowboys offense the last few years. In 2021, they finished leading the league in points per game. However, the offense appeared out of sync at times this season.

Mike McDaniel is the offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. The San Fran offense has been up and down all season. There are still questions surrounding Jimmy Garoppolo and this offense ahead of their matchup against the Rams in the NFC Championship.

Brian Daboll led a Bills offense that was also one of the best units in the league this season. They also lost in the divisional round, but that obviously had nothing to do with the offense. Daboll is credited with some of the development of Josh Allen at quarterback, a skill the Dolphins could use.

Miami had one of the better overall defenses in the NFL for the second straight season. The Dolphins offense was clearly the problem. Their running game took a big step backwards in 2021. Tua Tagovailoa was inconsistent at quarterback and has a limited ceiling.

It'll be interesting to see what direction the Dolphins go in.
