The Philadelphia Eagles playoff matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't quite go as they had hoped. It was a messy performance from the jump, as Tampa Bay had their number all day. We take a look at this Eagles-Buccaneers game with some of our Eagles playoff takeaways in mind.

Philadelphia's defense actually played well, especially in the first half. Another offseason to build upon this unit will do wonders for the Eagles. Even so, this team is bound to make some changes on the offensive side of the ball this offseason.

Jalen Hurts has been a decent quarterback for the Eagles. However, he needs to show big improvements in his passing ability to maintain being a starting-caliber quarterback. Additionally, Philadelphia might want to consider moving on from Jalen Reagor. Although they've been inconsistent against the Buccaneers in this playoff matchup, this franchise still has a bright future ahead.

With that said, here are three Eagles playoff takeaways from their game against the Buccaneers.

Eagles Playoff Takeaways

3. Jalen Hurts must make massive improvements

The Eagles' offense thrived in the run game all year. Unfortunately, the Buccaneers' defense excels in stopping the run. Philadelphia found themselves down early and was forced to throw the ball much more often. For that reason, this team was doomed from the get-go.

Jalen Hurts has a ton of potential to be a legitimate quarterback in the NFL. However, he must develop into a more efficient passer. This coming offseason is crucial for Hurts and the Eagles, as their future depends on how he adjusts to the professional level. Don't be surprised if a Gardner Minshew vs. Jalen Hurts debate takes place in the offseason, but Hurts should be the starter in 2022 regardless.

2. Jalen Reagor has to go

It's time for the Eagles to acknowledge their mistake and move on from Jalen Reagor. He just isn't getting the job done and his lack of effort is killing Philadelphia's passing attack. It's a harsh reality the fans must live in, knowing their franchise selected Reagor in the first round over Justin Jefferson.

Luckily for Philadelphia, we're looking at another rookie class stacked with a ton of talent in the wide receiver position. The Eagles should highly consider selecting another receiver in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft to replace Jalen Reagor. Another option would be signing a veteran with a history of consistent production. Either way, look for the front office to make some changes to the receiver room this offseason.

1. Eagles have a bright future ahead

Although they've struggled throughout this playoff matchup against the Buccaneers, Eagles fans should feel confident about the future of the franchise. Philadelphia made a miraculous comeback in the regular season to clinch a playoff spot. Hurts has a ton of potential and should be in line to be the starting quarterback next year.

As long as the front office upgrades the receiving room and Jalen Hurts develops into a more efficient passer, the Eagles should be in good hands. The rushing attack was elite throughout this season and that should maintain going forward. This is a young roster who should improve. It all depends on how the offseason plays out for Philadelphia.
