Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have put behind the rumor-filled offseason by winning games.

The Packers are one of the best teams in the NFL today, and every game is essential as they look to earn a top seed in the NFC. Having home-field advantage in the playoffs is huge as fans can certainly shift the tide of a game. Besides, Green Bay is also undefeated at home this season.

With that said, here are three takeaways from a solid week seven win over Washington.

Green Packers Week 7 Takeaways

3. The Packers' defense is becoming elite

Over the past few years, the Packers' defense has been the weakness of the team. In the game against Washington, though, they showed signs of a potential elite defensive team.

Sure, the Green Bay defense rank fifth in the NFL. However, prior to the Week 7 contest, they have allowed their opponents to score in 15 chances at their red zone this 2021.

Against Washington, the Packers kept stopped them in four straight red-zone possessions. It's a big win for Aaron Rodgers and Co. as they look to supplement their elite offense with a better defense in a bid to return to the Super Bowl.

2. Aaron Rodgers is an MVP candidate

Many questioned Aaron Rodger's dedication to football after the Packers' Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints. He has since proven the haters wrong as he emerged as an MVP candidate once again.

The reigning MVP is having another phenomenal season, leading the Packers to be a Super Bowl contender.

On the season, Rodgers has thrown for 1,710 yards along with 15 touchdowns and only three interception.  Rodgers is known for taking care of the ball, and he has done the same this season. Davante Adams has been the main target as expected, but other guys have chipped in leading to the Packers developing an elite offense.

Look for Rodgers to continue proving the haters wrong and have a fantastic season.

1. Packers should be the NFC Favorite

The NFC is loaded with great teams, but the Packers should be the favorite. Their main competition is the Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams. They all have played at a high level as the Cardinals are undefeated, while the Buccaneers and Rams only have one loss each.

Green Bay will have tough battles against these teams in the  playoffs, but they have the talent and experience to get the job done. Look for the Packers to continue winning games and be the favorite in the NFC.

The Packers will get their biggest test against the 6-0 Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night Football in Week 8. This will show if Green Bay can win against another top team in the league and truly claim to be the NFC favorite.
