The Miami Dolphins front office has been solid throughout the last few years. They've been able to acquire top-tier talent while building draft capital simultaneously. This franchise came one game shy of making the postseason last year and hope to break that barrier in 2021.

However, Xavien Howard is rumored to be available via trade, which opens the Dolphins up for multiple opportunities to continue building their roster. He's one of the best cornerbacks in the league but is also one of the highest-paid. Miami can afford to trade Howard, as they have another elite cornerback on the roster in Byron Jones.

The Dolphins could be looking for picks, but they may want to try and acquire a player as well. Beefing up the inside linebacker position could be a smart move for this team, as it would sure up the front seven. There is also a surprise trade that could be made that would shake up the entire league. With that said, here are three potential trade candidates for the Dolphins entering training camp.

Jordan Hicks

It's already been reported that Jordan Hicks is likely available via trade. After drafting Zaven Collins in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cardinals have stacked their defense with a ton of young talent. Trading Hicks now and receiving something in return makes sense for Arizona, as it could improve the team this year while increasing their odds of success for years to come.

Acquiring Jordan Hicks gives the Dolphins a nice tackle machine at the linebacker position. The Dolphins' defense is already good, but adding a guy like Hicks makes them much better. Miami would be a difficult team to run against, as Hicks is known for being an elite run stopper.

Jaylon Smith

Another tackling machine that would do great in Miami is Jaylon Smith. He's had a solid career playing for the Dallas Cowboys. Similar to the Cardinals, the Cowboys selected a top prospect linebacker in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Dallas has a plethora of linebackers at their disposal and trading Smith away for Xavien Howard would bring balance to this defense.

Smith would play a similar role as Hicks in this situation, increasing the Dolphins' run defense. Adding Smith could give Miami a top defense, which is something they'll need if they hope to dethrone the Buffalo Bills as AFC East champions.

Aaron Rodgers

Okay, this might be more of a dream scenario, but it's not outside the realm of possibility. Aaron Rodgers is still upset with the Green Bay Packers and there are question marks surrounding Tua Tagovailoa's talents. This could be a great way for the Packers to gain as many draft picks as possible while the Dolphins receive a guaranteed elite quarterback under center.

Ideally, the Dolphins keep Tagovailoa to continue learning behind one of the greats. Rodgers would fit in well with the Dolphins offense, as they have multiple pass options at Rodgers' disposal. Miami would immediately go from being a wild card candidate to the favorite to win the AFC East if they somehow pulled off a trade for Aaron Rodgers.
