Seahawks starting quarterback Russell Wilson is expected to miss up to eight weeks with a fractured index finger on his throwing hand.

Let's take a look at who the Seahawks could trade for or sign for the next eight weeks.

This injury couldn't have come at a worse time for the Seahawks, because they play in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL, the NFC West. The Arizona Cardinals are 4-0 and look fantastic. The L.A. Rams are 4-1 and are Super Bowl contenders with Matt Stafford under center. The San Francisco 49ers are capable of beating anyone but did lose to Seattle a few weeks ago.

That leaves the Seahawks, who are now probably the team most likely to finish fourth in that NFC West.

Seattle's franchise QB has never missed a start in his career. Wilson could very well return earlier than expected, but for now, it looks like Geno Smith will take over the duties. Opposite of Wilson, Smith hasn't started many games at all since his stint with the Jets from 2013-2016. No one knows what the Seattle offense will look like without its star.

If Smith isn't the answer, here are three possible QBs Seattle could bring in to replace Wilson.

3 QBs Seahawks Must Trade For Or Sign

Nick Foles – Chicago Bears

The former Super Bowl champion is wasting his time as the third-string QB in Chicago. He currently sits behind Justin Fields and former starter Andy Dalton.

Foles has already proven he can get the job done when his back is against the wall, so he is a perfect candidate for this job. The Seahawks are still a very good football team even with their 2-3 record. Foles could easily turn this around if given the opportunity. Since his injury in Jacksonville, Foles has yet to get another chance to play significant amounts of NFL snaps. A trade for Foles could benefit the team.

Marcus Mariota – Las Vegas Raiders

The former Heisman Trophy winner from the University of Oregon is currently the backup behind Derek Carr in Las Vegas. Mariota would be a great addition to the Seahawks because of his similar style when compared to Wilson.

Mariota is a dual-threat QB who is capable of escaping the pocket. In the game he played last year, he lit up the L.A. Chargers after Carr left with an injury. He completed 17 of 28 passes for 226 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while also rushing for 88 yards and one TD. He proved he still has value and can get the job done when needed. The Seahawks would love that kind of production with Wilson out.

Cam Newton – Free Agent

Could Newton find his way to Seattle? This is an unlikely scenario, but there's no doubt that Newton wants a job badly. Newton showed everyone that he is still capable of performing at this level. He won games with the Patriots last season and could've done it again if it weren't for Mac Jones.

The position Newton would be filling clearly won't be permanent. He's been waiting all season for an opportunity to open up, and he likely won't deny it if it's given to him. Newton is trying to prove that he can still win games, and the Seahawks are in desperate need of a boost for their offense.
