After shocking the world and upsetting the Phoenix Suns in the second round of the NBA Playoffs, the Dallas Mavericks rolled into the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday looking for a big victory in Game 1 against the Golden State Warriors. Unfortunately, things didn't exactly go to plan, losing 112-87 in the Bay Area. The Mavs struggled immensely to shoot the ball and Luka Doncic didn't have his best night by any means.

But, Dallas shouldn't panic. They just took down the best team in the Association and the Dubs haven't exactly been all that convincing in the postseason thus far.

3 reasons Mavs shouldn't panic after Game 1 loss to Warriors

The shooters will come alive

The Mavs drained just 23% of their triples in the series opener (11 for 48) in a woeful shooting performance. It's no secret this team lives and dies by the three, which is slightly concerning in a sense but also, they should have tons of belief that Game 2 will be a different story.

Dallas essentially beat the Jazz and Suns because of their long-range efficiency. The likes of Dorian Finney-Smith, Maxi Kleber, Reggie Bullock, Doncic, and David Bertans have done a good job of getting to their spots and hitting treys. That just wasn't the case on Wednesday. Bertans went 0 for 4, Bullock 3 for 10, and Doncic only 3 for 10 as well. The Warriors are a fantastic defensive team but they've looked shaky at times in the playoffs. The Mavs need to trust the process and just keep chucking up three-pointers. They've been landing all postseason. It's only a matter of time until it happens again.

Luka will bounce back

Doncic is averaging an impressive 30.5 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 6.4 assists in the playoffs. He's carried the Mavs to this point, whether it's with his scoring or facilitating. However, the Slovenian didn't look his best in Game 1. Luka only had 20 points in 34 minutes of action, also grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out four assists. Those aren't bad numbers by any means, but he wasn't efficient, going 6 for 18 from the field and as mentioned previously, shooting a mere 30% from deep.

Doncic continues to prove he's a big-game player. He cooked the Suns in Game 6 and 7. There frankly isn't any way the Warriors can continue to contain him. Andrew Wiggins held his own defending Luka in the opener thanks to his strength and athleticism, but we're talking about one of the best players in the league. He is a cold-blooded killer and the leader of this Mavs group. It was just an off night for Doncic. He'll respond in a big way.

Warriors haven't been consistent

Golden State hasn't exactly shown a ton of consistency in the postseason. The first round was essentially a breeze against the Nuggets, but in round two, the Grizzlies really gave the Warriors a run for their money, even without Ja Morant. The reality is this. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green aren't the same players as in past years when they won numerous titles. Draymond can still defend at a high level and contribute offensively, but the other two aren't scoring as frequently as before. The Mavs weren't outplayed by the Splash Brothers in Game 1 either, it came down to the entire rotation thriving. Every single Dubs star collected 10 or more points, with seven different players in double-figures.

The Mavs just need to tidy it up defensively, start hitting shots, and Doncic must bounce back. That's been their recipe for success. Friday is a new day. This series is still wide open.
