Alvin Kamara joined the New Orleans Saints as a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. While some fans were not a big fan of the pick, they were quickly won over by his talent and personality. Now, he has blossomed into one of the top running backs in the entire league.
Looking ahead at the 2019 NFL season, Kamara is ready to once again take a leap forward. Gone are the days where he shared the backfield with Mark Ingram. Ingram signed with the Baltimore Ravens this offseason in free agency.
With Kamara ready to become the workhorse running back in New Orleans, his numbers are expected to skyrocket as well. He is already one of the league’s most productive running backs, but now he is ready to take that to the next level.
Last season with the Saints, Kamara ended up carrying the football 194 times for 883 yards and 14 touchdowns. Those numbers average out to an impressive 4.6 yards per carry. Kamara also caught 81 passes for 709 yards and four touchdowns on the season.
While Kamara has become a legitimate superstar in the NFL, there are still things that people don’t know about him.
Let’s go ahead and dive in and find out four things that you may not have known about Kamara.
4. Kamara’s College Career Began at Alabama
While Kamara came onto the big stage in college with the Tennessee Volunteeres, his college career did not begin there. That’s right, Kamara’s college career started with the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was one of the long line of running backs who have attended Alabama.
He didn’t even transfer directly to Tennessee after leaving Alabama. His first stop was Hutchinson Community College and then he ended up with the Volunteers. It wasn’t an ordinary college career, but it certainly got the job done for Kamara.
3. He Is a Huge Disney Movie Fan
Next up, Kamara is a huge fan of Disney movies. He is still a kid at heart and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Among Kamara’s favorite Disney moves are “The Little Mermaid,” “Atlantis,” and “The Lion King.” All of those movies are worthy choices. Don’t every change, Alvin.
2. Kamara Has a Drawer of His Favorite Candy
That’s right, Kamara is a huge fan of Airheads and he has a full drawer of them. Just like Marshawn Lynch with his Skittles, Kamara cannot go without his favorite sweet treat. His favorite Airhead flavor is watermelon, which is without question the best flavor and his tastes are impeccable.
1. He Still Enjoys Walking Home from Work
At this point in time, we don’t know how often he ends up doing it, but Kamara still enjoys walking home from work. Even though his job is being a professional athlete for the Saints and he is a superstar, he enjoys making that walk and running into fans and friends. It has been very obvious that Kamara loves his fans.
It’s awesome to see a player so down to earth and not uptight like many become. Kamara has not allowed fame and the NFL to change him and we hope that he never does.
