The San Francisco 49ers selected Jalen Hurd in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He's the ultimate weapon, having played both running back and wide receiver in college. Even better, he excelled at both.

Due to that, the 49ers would be able to use him in a lot of different ways, in a lot of different sets. However, it looks like they'll have to hold off on that for the time being.

Jalen Hurd isn't practicing and likely won't play in their Week 1 game on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a back injury.

“Week to week” doesn't sound great if we're being honest. It could just be the San Francisco 49ers' way of saying he's missing week 1, but it sounds worse than that.

“Day to day” would imply that Hurd could come back to practice at any time. “Week to week” makes it sound like he's already been ruled out for the rest of the week, and it could be even longer than that.

The frustrating part about this is that the injury hasn't exactly been specified. It was listed as a back injury in the past, but they don't seem to be getting too in-depth with the analysts on the injury.

However, that could be for a number of reasons, so it does no good to speculate too much on that. Hurd is one of the most exciting players on the roster, so let's just hope he gets well soon.

For now, all we know is that Jalen Hurd is now “week-to-week” with his injury.

He's not participating in practices at the moment, and his status for the San Francisco 49ers' Week 1 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is doubtful. Hopefully more details on the situation emerge soon.
