San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had not been having a good 2019 campaign, but on Thursday night, he enjoyed an outstanding game against the Arizona Cardinals that could potentially turn his whole season around.

Garoppolo completed 28 of his 37 passes for 317 yards and four touchdowns in what ended up being a 28-25 win, helping the 49ers improve to 8-0 on the year.

Not only that, but all four of Garoppolo's touchdown tosses came on third and fourth down, making him just the 10th quarterback to accomplish that feat this century:

On the season overall, Garoppolo has thrown for 1,806 yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 70.8 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 100.6.

San Francisco initially acquired Garoppolo in a trade with the New England Patriots back in October 2017. He went on to make six appearances and make five starts for the Niners that season, finishing with 1,560 yards, seven touchdowns and five picks while completing 67.4 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 96.2.

Garoppolo was the clear-cut starter under center for the 49ers heading into 2018, but three games into the season, he suffered a torn ACL, prematurely ending what was supposed to be his first full season as a starter. During the time he was on the field, he totaled 718 yards, five touchdowns and three picks.

Due to his lack of a track record and the fact that he was coming off of a major injury, there were a lot of questions surrounding Garoppolo (whom the 49ers gave a big contract extension in February 2018) heading into 2019.

He hasn't answered all of them yet, but he took a huge step toward doing that against the Cardinals.
