San Francisco 49ers linebacker Kwon Alexander has applied for a “Hot Boyzz” trademark, but Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence isn't having any of it. “Hot Boys” first become famous as a rap group that started the career of Juvenile and Lil Wayne, but Alexander likes his new twist on the name.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Alexander filed the trademark for “Hot Boyzz” and “Hot Boyzz University on Tuesday. When getting announced during games Alexander has said he attended school at Hot Boyzz University. He said it first started as the linebacker group trying to find an identity, but it has spread across the whole team.

“It really just started with the linebackers at first,” Alexander said, per Evan Webeck of the Mercury News. “We were just trying to find our identity. We found it and it became the whole team.”

Lawrence has previously said that Alexander and the rest of the 49ers were imposters for using the same name that the Cowboys defense use to identify themselves. On Tuesday, Lawrence made his thoughts very clear about the trademark application.

Lawrence also said that his legal team is dealing with the situation, and it didn't matter how many Z's they put on the name, they weren't going to steal their name.

No matter if Kwon Alexander or DeMarcus Lawrence win this fight in the courts, the 49ers won the battle on the field. They were the better team on the field and now are representing the NFC in the Super Bowl.
