The San Francisco 49ers were ahead 23-21 at halftime in their Week 13 game against the Seattle Seahawks, looking like they were on their way to victory. However, they failed to score in the second half as the visitors clawed their way back to a win. Obviously, star defensive end Nick Bosa was not happy with the result.
Bosa got brutally honest about the outcome of the contest in his postgame presser, admitting they “blew” their chance in an otherwise really winnable game. They didn’t expect it to be easy, but the 24-year-old hoped that the 49ers would put up a better fight than they did in the second half of the game.
“Yeah, we definitely blew it,” Bosa said, per NBC Sports.
“We knew it was going to be this type of game whenever we play them. We have to do a much better job of not giving the game away. But we’re still in the mix and we’re going to keep working hard and we still have a lot of confidence in our team.”
Nick Bosa had a solid game himself with a sack of Russell Wilson in the first quarter, but the team as a whole struggled big time. The 49ers had four turnovers and a shocking 10 penalties, which doomed their chances of a comeback.
For what it’s worth, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was particularly critical of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who threw two interceptions that clearly slowed down their offense.
“Those two picks weren’t good plays. He’s got to be better with the ball,’ Shanahan said of Garoppolo.
The 49ers dropped to 6-6 on the season after the loss, and while their playoff hopes are still alive, they need to be close to perfect if they don’t want to take a vacation early.
