Another player lands on the injured reserve list for the San Francisco 49ers yet again. Veteran cornerback Richard Sherman was reported to have a leg issue but no additional details were disclosed by the team thus far. He is only expected to miss a couple of games and will be back on the gridiron soon.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport disclosed the developments on Sherman's injury on Twitter:

The 49ers dropped their first game of the season on a 24-20 outcome against the resurgent Arizona Cardinals. The team's formidable defensive rotation failed to limit opposing quarterback Kyler Murray and All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins during the game.

The eight-year veteran totaled 151 yards on 14 receptions which were tied for the second-most that the 49ers have allowed for a player since 1950. Hopkins also set up the game-winning touchdown to secure the Cardinals' first win of the season. Sherman contributed a total of four tackles during the opening game loss.

The five-time Pro Bowler now joins rookie wideout Brandon Aiyuk, veteran offensive lineman Ben Garland, sophomore pass-catcher Deebo Samuel, defensive ace Jason Verrett, and running back Tevin Coleman on the team's injured reserve list. In addition, tight end George Kittle also sustained a sprained knee injury from their opening game against the Cardinals.

The 49ers' lack of depth on both sides of the field will make it harder for them to close out tight games moving forward. The undermanned squad will certainly need every help they can get as they face their upcoming games starting with the New York Jets on September 20.
