Kyle Shanahan's offensive genius began to get recognized in 2016 when he was the offensive coordinator of an explosive Atlanta Falcons team that made it all the way to the Super Bowl. That run got him a head-coaching gig with the San Francisco 49ers. His first couple of seasons in the Bay were rough, but this past year, Shanahan led the 49ers to 13 wins and a Super Bowl appearance.

San Francisco is certainly known more for its defense than its offense, but Shanahan was still lauded for the job he did with Jimmy Garoppolo and Co. throughout the 2019-20 campaign.

Niners cornerback Richard Sherman is making sure that Shanahan gets his shine and heaped some heavy praise on his head coach this week.

“Kyle is one of the best offensive minds we've ever had in this game,” said Sherman, according to Jim Trotter of NFL.com.

Shanahan did take some heat following the 49ers' Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in February, with many questioning his play-calling throughout the second half.

It marked the second time that a Shanahan-led offense blew a second-half lead. Of course, this time was not nearly as memorable as the first. While San Francisco surrendered a 10-point advantage, Atlanta coughed up a 28-3 edge in a devastating overtime loss to the New England Patriots a few years ago.

For that reason, Shanahan still has something to prove. But obviously, Sherman is very confident in Shanahan's ability to run an offense. We'll see how that pans out for the Niners this coming season.
