San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman made headlines for blasting Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield's snub during the pregame handshake. However, videos have now surfaced showing the two dap each other up prior to the coin toss.

Former NFL punter Pat McAfee posted the proof of the handshake on social media. Richard Sherman has since responded, via Twitter:

So you don’t see any difference in the way I shake everyone else’s hand and the guy who stands back with the petty shake. Was Bs and I took offense to it then turns and runs off. It’s not that big of a deal.

Here's the video of the shake:

Although the shake with Mayfield was about as unenthusiastic as one could get, there is no denying that it did take place. Sherman's comments indicate that he may have just simply exaggerated what was an otherwise cold introduction between the two.

Regardless, the handshake had nothing to do with Mayfield continuing his abysmal start to the 2019 NFL season. He put on another lackluster performance by completing just 8-of-22 passes for a mere 100 yards and two interceptions against San Francisco. He now ranks at the bottom of the league in a number of notable passing categories such as interceptions (8), completion percentage (55.9), and passer rating (68.5).

Sherman is certainly no stranger to controversy. Fortunately, his experience in dealing with it has not had any effect on his or the 49ers' on-field performance.

Meanwhile, Mayfield has seemingly bitten off much more than he can chew following his rather confident approach to the 2019 NFL season.
