San Francisco 49ers star Robbie Gould has a pretty good idea on what positions the team needs to fill in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft.

While the team certainly has a lot of roster needs they must address, Gould believes adding depth in the secondary should be their priority. After all, it was in those areas where they were really thin last season.

“You’ve got to look at the corner position, something that we were a little thin at last year. The safety position is probably another one that we will look at. I’m sure they always try to get some O-linemen and D-linemen,” the Pro Bowl kicker told Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The 49ers made it to the postseason in 2021, even going as far as the Conference Championship where they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champions Los Angeles Rams. While they did well in going deep in the playoffs, beating the likes of Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers along the way, they weren't really the best team and were considered massive underdogs throughout.

Sure enough, if they want to replicate their success and improve upon it, they have to add depth to the roster. The 2022 draft is one way to do that.

As for Robbie Gould, he's actually fine whatever direction the team takes in the draft, that is as long as they don't get a kicker who could replace him.

“As long as they don’t draft a kicker we are in good shape,” Gould added.

With the way Gould played in the past year, though, the 49ers are probably not thinking of replacing him any time soon. Maybe they could draft a corner or safety as their star kicker suggested.
