The San Francisco 49ers have been stellar lately as they're making a late-season push for the playoffs. However, it appears the team will be utilizing their backup running backs due to the status of Elijah Mitchell. This could generate problems for San Francisco's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

According to Cam Inman, Elijah Mitchell is ruled out vs. the Falcons. However, it sounds like he is recovering from the concussion, but the 49ers are seeing issues with his knee. San Francisco was confident Mitchell's knee would heal in time, but it has failed to do so.

This news puts the 49ers in a tough spot against the Falcons. With the playoffs right around the corner, San Francisco needs everyone available to make a postseason run. Not having Mitchell is a blow to the offense, as he has been the best running back on the team when healthy.

Luckily for San Francisco, the offense has come alive thanks to the incredible play from George Kittle. He went berserk in Week 14 and looks to continue that high level of play against the Falcons. As long as Kittle is healthy, the 49ers will have a chance to win on Sunday.

Furthermore, Jimmy Garoppolo has looked decent as well, as he's been a competent quarterback this year. With the plethora of weapons at the 49ers' disposal, they should be able to generate enough firepower to give Atlanta fits.

We'll see how this game plays out, but the 49ers are in a must-win scenario and won't have Elijah Mitchell to help.
