Injuries are beginning to mount up for the San Francisco 49ers along their offensive line. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Shon Coleman suffered a dislocated ankle.

Coleman sustained the injury during the 49ers preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night. The recovery time for his injury is expected to take several months, putting his season in jeopardy.

The 49ers offensive tackle began his career with the Cleveland Browns after being taken in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Coleman failed to start in any games in his rookie season but would start in all 16 games for the Browns in 2017 at right tackle.

Near the beginning of last season, San Francisco traded a seventh-round pick to the Browns to acquire Coleman. Coleman was a healthy scratch in every game for the 49ers in 2018.

Then, coming into this season, Coleman was expected to be the team's versatile backup at both tackle positions. Instead, Coleman joins an offensive line that already has a few guys (including Coleman) that are nursing injuries.

Most notably, Weston Richburg is still on the physically unable to perform list due to a knee injury. Kyle Shanahan is hoping that he can make it through the rest of the preseason healthy.

There are still three more weeks of preseason and Shanahan is expected to play his starters for a limited amount of snaps—including Jimmy Garoppolo.

However, Shanahan may rethink his approach after seeing the number of injuries that are piling up on the roster.
