The San Francisco 49ers were unable to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs and Steve Young seemed devastated with the loss. Following Kansas City's victory, Young reacted to San Francisco's Super Bowl 54 loss to the Chiefs.

As Young pointed out at the beginning, the 49ers seemed to have everything go according to plan. For the majority of the game, San Francisco was able to run the ball and control the time of possession.

In addition, the 49ers actually took a 10-point lead into the fourth quarter. At the same time, Patrick Mahomes was being bottled up by San Francisco's defense for the first three quarters. Again, everything was working in favor of the 49ers.

But in a sudden turn of events, Kansas City's offense began to find a rhythm. In what seemed like a matter of seconds, the momentum of the game was flipped and it was up to Jimmy Garoppolo to deliver in a big-time moment. Despite keeping him in check for three quarters, Mahomes proved why he's so special in the fourth quarter.

Leading up to the Super Bowl, everyone was critical of how Garoppolo was seldom used during the playoffs. Most people believed that Kyle Shanahan was trying to mask his deficiencies by running the ball as much as possible. After watching the Super Bowl, it was apparent that Garoppolo didn't play the best game of his career.

Of course, Steve Young understands what it takes to win a Super Bowl as he won three of them with the 49ers. In the end, San Francisco wasn't able to get the job done and they'll look to avenge their heartbreaking loss in 2020.
