NBA Commissioner Adam Silver isn't messing around anymore when it comes to tampering in the NBA.

In the past, the league has fined coaches, general managers and executives for tampering. That won't be the case this upcoming season.

Adam Silver says if tampering occurs moving forward, there could be harsh penalties, including execs getting suspended, teams losing draft picks and players getting their contracts voided:

Magic Johnson was fined a few times when he was an exec with the Los Angeles Lakers. Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers was fined after he called Kawhi Leonard the modern day Michael Jordan during an appearance on ESPN's SportsCenter.

The NBA free-agency period starts on June 30. Because the NBA Finals end in mid-June, there's a lot of time for tampering to occur.

Kemba Walker supposedly had a deal with the Boston Celtics before free agency started this summer. The Celtics were also reportedly upset with how the Philadelphia 76ers tampered with Al Horford, which is kind of ironic since the Charlotte Hornets can say the same thing about Boston in regards to Walker.

There were also plenty of rumblings surrounding Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant's move to the Brooklyn Nets, as well as the Los Angeles Clippers' full-court press on Kawhi Leonard throughout last season.

Is tampering still going to occur behind the scenes? Probably. It will be interesting to see if these new rule change anything that players, coaches and execs do in private, but Adam Silver is willing to try anything to fix the issue.
