AEW is on a roll heading into Forbidden Door. They've reportedly pulled in a $1 million gate, are expected to draw big money on the Pay-Per-View circuit, and, according to Tony Khan, have already begun discussing Forbidden Door II, which could be very intriguing indeed for all of the potential dream matches that still need to be booked.

And, in a potentially polarizing piece of info in his pre-Forbidden Door media availability, Khan has announced that AEW has begun to explore the possibilities of producing more Pay-Per-Views each season, expanding out from the four-shows-per-year the promotion has been running since they landed a television deal in 2019.

For some, this is bad news, as paying out $50 every three months for a premium event is already a pretty decent investment for fans of the promotion, but after struggling to maintain consistent momentum heading into the future event over sometimes 100-day build-up periods, the prospects of quicker turn arounds could make Tony Khan's life as a booker a good bit easier, regardless of how much of a benefit bringing in as much as eight figures more a year to a promotion that employs well over 150 wrestlers if you count Ring of Honor as well.

Considering how much of an in-ring meh television-based “special events” like Beach Break, Fight for the Fallen, and even Battle of the Belts have been since debuting on TBS and TNT, the prospects of more Pay-Per-Views is very intriguing, especially if the shows can clock in aT closer to three hours then five and cost less than the “core four.”
